We'd had a great time at Jim's lake, but it was over all too soon and first thing on the Saturday morning we were up first thing packing away the kit. As usual the rods were left until last in the hope of just one more bite, as is the angler's way, but it was not to be. Not that it mattered as we had had a great time and were now up for the next challenge and a change of scenery...

After a successfull start at"Jim's" lake, we eventually managed to grab a few hours of much needed shut eye and it was mid morning before I awoke and hunger forced me out of bed...

I have only just returned from my latest French adventure, this time I travelled out with my friend Mike Brown to fish a couple of lakes in the East of France. In the run up to the trip I had kept a close eye on the various weather sites and all foretold of truly savage winter weather for the period that we would be away...

Only last week I headed out to one of my favourite winter venues intending to fish for just one night. I arrived late in the evening and found the car park empty so I loaded the barrow and headed off into the gloom down the long and winding path to the lake. Within a few minutes I'd heard two more definite carp out in the darkness and I sat and watched the rings come back to tell me where they were showing, which was tight to the far margin beneath the overhanging trees, one of their favourite haunts at this time of year...

With the savage weather front that hit the South of England in late october it was clear that winter was fast approaching. On the night in question I was heading off fishing and as usual I left my house after the traffic and made my way around the busy M25. As I had left my home the weather wasn't too bad, the temperature in my car was telling me it was eight degrees outside and although it was raining steadily I fancied my chances of a bite wherever I ended up. You see I hadn't actually decided where to go, having so many good waters at my disposal sometimes makes it difficult to know where to head. First off I decided to go and look at the Horton complex, but that was very busy so it was back in the car and on towards Yately and its many lakes.
