SONIK rods tested in Gambia

A recent trip to Gambia in Africa proved very successful for Sonik rods in the form of some big and hard fighting fish such as Guitar fish, Lady Fish and Batfish Ray, all of which were easily landed with the power and smooth fish playing actions of the Sonik rods. In particular, the 16’ Sk4 and 12' 6" Sk3 bass proved popular and accounted for some very good catches.
“I tested the new Sonik 16’ rod and it comes through with so much power at the end of the cast”, says Alan Yates (Sea Angler magazine issue 435), who was also present on the trip.
Although the fishing was actually rather patchy for much of the time, some good fish were caught and it is fair to say the Sonik rods made a big impression on all who tried them. The West African Shore festival takes place in Gambia in November each year and is supported by anglers from all over the UK and Ireland. This year's event was won by Sonik Dealer John O’Brien of Waterford Angling in Ireland, with a 60lb sting ray, so well done to him!
