Situated in 20 acres of picturesque and peaceful farmland, Aldin Grange boasts five well stocked lakes brimming with fish - two trout (fly only), two coarse and one competition (match only).
Set in a secluded backwater west of Durham, near to an historic mining area called Bearpark, the lakes have a unique character and charm with a diverse array of flora and fauna around the banks.
As registered Troutmaster water, the fly only lakes are well stocked with Rainbow, Brown and Blue Trout varying in size from 1-15lb. Fishing is allowed with barbless hooks and only Rainbow trout may be killed and taken. The coarse lakes offer 5 types of Carp, Crucian, Common, Mirror, Ghost and F1’s, Tench, Perch, Roach, Rudd, Bream, Chub, Orfe, Ide and Barbel. Carp weigh from 8oz to 20lb. All in all, a wide variety of species to aim for with something to suit everyone!
Having recently opened an account with the tackle shop on site, Sonik Sports agreed to hold an open day for local anglers to see and try out all the gear. The glorious sunshine that continued unabated throughout the day encouraged a good turnout of anglers, keen to find out more about the Sonik range. The friendly atmosphere and excellent facilities present at Aldin Grange is a credit to the owners and not least, Mick Manghan, fishery and onsite tackle shop manager, who puts in a huge amount of time and effort into making the whole thing such a success. We thoroughly enjoyed the day and look forward to coming back another day for a repeat performance!
