Unsurprisingly as the summer's got underway I’ve been flat out fishing at every available opportunity and so haven’t found any time to update my blog, so first off I’ll apologise if you’ve been checking in for updates, but I’m sure you understand.

Only last week I headed out to one of my favourite winter venues intending to fish for just one night. I arrived late in the evening and found the car park empty so I loaded the barrow and headed off into the gloom down the long and winding path to the lake. It was a lovely mild and calm night but the sky was lit up with fireworks from the nearby houses. I left the barrow by the gate and went for a wander round. At the far end of the lake I heard a fish slosh out so I walked the kit round and stood listening. Within a few minutes I'd heard two more definite carp out in the darkness and I sat and watched the rings come back to tell me where they were showing, which was tight to the far margin beneath the overhanging trees, one of their favourite haunts at this time of year...

With the savage weather front that hit the South of England in late october it was clear that winter was fast approaching. On the night in question I was heading off fishing and as usual I left my house after the traffic and made my way around the busy M25. As I had left my home the weather wasn't too bad, the temperature in my car was telling me it was eight degrees outside and although it was raining steadily I fancied my chances of a bite wherever I ended up. You see I hadn't actually decided where to go, having so many good waters at my disposal sometimes makes it difficult to know where to head. First off I decided to go and look at the Horton complex, but that was very busy so it was back in the car and on towards Yately and its many lakes.

Well as usual it’s been a busy start to the year for me as I’ve been out and about on several waters already, as you may have read. Once the weather starts to warm up however, I like to make plans for a spring assault on somewhere away from the crowds and this year has been no exception. I originally had two waters in mind that were relatively local to my home, both of which hold a big fish so I started to sneak over to each at dawn for a look and a cast about to identify an area to bait.

First of all welcome to my new blog spot - it is our intention here at Sonik to make this this section really informative and fully interactive. Not only will you be able to read about my on the bank sessions and see lots of pictures, but soon you will be able to join me "live" as it were, as we will be launching a video section. I'll be taking my camcorder along with me to capture the action as it happens on trips as well show you step by step tactical tips and methods and basically how I go about my angling and what happens on a day to day basis. There will also be lots of general "life on the bank" snippets which could be about anything, from watching fish in the water to social outings with friends, so it will be worth dropping in regularly to look for updates. As an added bonus you will also get to see sneak previews of prototype products being tested long before they appear in the mags and discover how to get the best from each product with lots of hints and how to segments.

see you soon
