The 9'6" #7/8 is a very pleasing rod to handle with a #7 line but I might try a #8 to see if there is a significant difference. It casts a long line with little effort. I like the thumb print on the handle and the alignment marks on the joints are useful prticularly on a 4 piece rod. The attractive finish and good travel case make this an attractive good value rod.

My new Sonik rod is great, perhaps too great!I have used the rod twice both times alongside one that cost me over £550. Much to my wife's annoyance, I can't honestly tell the difference. Likewise, I can't explain to her why I paid an extra £300 which, "Could have gone towards a new dishwasher."

I had the good fortune to revisit Anvik Lodge on the River Anvik in Alaska last month. This river has huge runs of Chum, Pinkies and King salmon in July followed by Silvers in August. I used to my complete satisfaction my Sonik SK4 7/8 for chum and pinkies and also for Northern Pike. Using an 8wt WF line I had no problem in casting 5" pike flies. The rod easily handled the chums and pinkies upto 5lbs. I also brought along my Sonik SK4 5/6 which, with a 6wt WF line was a delight to cast and gave much fun with the smaller greyling and char. My mate, Tony Whitehouse, is an accomplished caster and it was a pleasure watching him in action with the 7/8. So you can rest assured that this customer is more than satisfied with your products. Used my new SK4 at Carron Valley Reservoir. Noticed the difference with casting immediately, even with my average casting skills. First fish caught was a 6lb Rainbow which gave a gave a magnificent fight. The rod played the fish really well.A great first day out for the rod!

This rod is a beautiful design and feels superb throughout casting. The cloth bag and the carry case all adds to the quality. Very impressive distance caster. Full bend through the rod helps the control while you land the fish.

I'm 59 and have been flyfishing since I was 21 (on and off), I have several fly fishing rods: I own a Sharps Cane rod and all-sorts of different Carbon Blanks. I have also tried all of Orvis' rods; when I was looking to purchase a new rod, I found them to be all light and good. However, I took a chance and bought the Sonik SK4 Fly rod on the basis of its reviews. And I can tell you its is not a decision I have not regretted. This rod takes a lot of beating. I've used many times now all day - from early morning to early evening with minimal breaks, and have experienced NO fatigue from using the rod. I've found it to be a wonderful rod to use, I am so impressed with it that I intend to purchase a Sonik SK3 10" #8 rod. I just hope I am able to purchase this rod before your offers expire!!! I'm about to pre-order the reel to match the sonik SK4 fly rod, to balance it perfectly. I hope that in the future you will be doing fly lines to match the rod and reel, so that I can have a set of incomparable craftmanship. Please inform me before the offers expire as I really would love to get a Sonik 3 10" #8 fly fishing rod! I would love to win one ;-) but as I know how unlikely that is :-( I'd know I HAVE to invest in one. This morning I fished at John O'Gaunts and in the afternoon to early evening I fished at Moorhen fisheries in Hampshire and I now have absolutely NO fatigue, I only stopped as I ran out of time, elsewise, I'd have stayed fishing until dark!! No aching of the arms - nothing. This morning I had a fish of 3 and 3 quarter pound rainbow and another rainbow trout of 4 and a half pound; to play them on the rod was a DREAM - sheer pleasure. I would like to say how very surprised I was to receive the Sonik sk4 rod I ordered so quickly, ordered at 4pm tuesday delivered at11am wednesday.Went fishing with new rod on friday two lovely rainbows just under 3lbs each. i bought a sonik sk4 rod for my eighteen year old son as i cannot justify buying another rod as i already have enough to open a second hand store. yesterday i went fishing at a nearby trout lake and decided to test my sons new rod. i caught nothing in four hours but had a few fish interested. to put it simply the rod was a joy to use and as good as one i have which was considerably more expensive than the sk4. i have recommended this rod to people on a website that i belong to and i know already that two friends have purchased the same model. maybe i do have room for one more rod in my collection ? p.s do you need an agent in the south of england ? kind regards peter williams

I BOUGHT SK4 FLY ROD 10FT 7/8 I FISHED WITH ROD FOR FIRST TIME ON LAKE OF MENTIETH SCOTLAND PREMIER WATER AND (THIS ROD CAN CAST AND HANDLE FISH BETTER THAN MY TWO SAGE RODS XP/SLT WHICH I PAID WELL OVER £500 FOR, I HAVE ONLY EVER FISHED WITH SAGE RODS BUT NOT ANY MORE I WOULD PUT THIS ROD ON PAR WITH ANY TOP ROD OUT THERE,I AM EVEN GOING TO BUY 8'6 SK4 FOR RIVERS,I PHONED SONIK BEFORE I PURCHASED MY ROD TO ASK ONE OR TWO THINGS AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS SUPERB, I LIKE TO FISH WITH GOOD FISHING GEAR BUT IT JUST SHOW'S YOU DON'T HAVE TO SPEND £500 PLUS FOR A TOP ROD.REALLY HAPPY FISHERMAN
